Forum: web Subject: A blocked site that I used to own

Hi,

I used to own the domain never.org until 1997 when the server it was hosted on was forced to change IP addresses without notice. Because of a very bad setup, there was only one server set as the nameserver, mail server, everything, and the contact address for the domain was something@never.org - meaning it was impossible to respond to transfer requests.

Anyway, after losing the domain, the server's hard drive died and I lost most of the stuff that was available on the web site. It wasn't much, but I remember a couple of stupid pages that I'd like to see again. Unfortunately it looks like the current owners (some spam outfit, looks like) explicitly block ia_archiver in their robots.txt - stopping me from seeing content I own the copyright to.

Is there anyway around this? I'd love to see a copy of the site as it was back then. I'm pretty sure the pages were indexed by archive.org when I owned it, and as I say I own the copyright on that content.

Fingers crossed someone can help.

cheers,

Peter

Hi,

There was a discussion on the forums about this topic about 6 months ago that you can refer to here: http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=17127 This is a problem we are aware of and are working to correct with a system of time-based exclusions. However I am not sure when this system will be ready.
In the mean time thank you for your patience,
Astrid

I'm in the same boat. I used to run a comedy site named comedyconvoy.com, I let the domain name go because at that time in my life I couldn't really put the time into the website, now the site is blocked by a domain pirating/spam outfit and I cannot see my old content. I was hoping to start a new site with that old content now.
